To offer Bizum in Shopify, first check account availability and supported integrations. Shopify Payments documents Bizum in early access for eligible merchants; external providers also offer specific integrations.

Do not assume Shopify Plus or one particular provider is mandatory. Choose according to eligibility, financial conditions, buyer journey and payment operations.

Two routes to distinguish

RouteWhat to review
Bizum with Shopify PaymentsAccount availability, business requirements, market and currency
Compatible external providerContract, costs, app, journey and refund management

The official Bizum guide states early access is not available to every eligible merchant. Confirm the admin's options before promising activation dates.

If evaluating MONEI, its Shopify integration documentation explains the current flow. It describes redirection to confirm payment and return, so should not be sold as always redirect-free.

How to compare costs

Request account-specific percentage, fixed fee, payouts, refunds and possible Shopify charges by plan and provider. A generic card rate is not a Bizum rate.

Compare using your average order and volume, separating contract costs from temporary promotions. Integration does not imply free processing or a particular conversion improvement.

The journey buyers should understand

  1. Select Bizum when offered at checkout.
  2. Enter or confirm the method's required information.
  3. Authorise according to their bank's journey.
  4. Return to a clear completed, pending or failed state.
  5. Receive confirmation once the order is correctly recognised.

A visual browser return is not final payment confirmation. Support should consult orders and transactions without depending on customer screenshots.

Tests before enabling the method

  • Completed payment and recognised order.
  • Buyer cancellation before authorisation.
  • Declined payment or timeout.
  • Mobile return to the store.
  • Delayed notification and state recovery.
  • Full and partial refunds where supported.

Use the provider's appropriate test mode first. Before finishing, validate the real journey and reconciliation in a controlled way without altering unrelated orders.

Refunds and reconciliation

Check where refunds should start and how Shopify reflects their state. The MONEI refund guide distinguishes platform and direct integrations. Do not assume instant reimbursement in every case.

Retain identifiers linking order, payment and payout. Define pending-payment and failed-refund handling and who contacts the provider.

If migrating from PrestaShop

A faulty integration in one store does not prove Bizum inherently fails in PrestaShop. Review configuration, notifications, versions and maintenance. If migrating, use identified problems as test cases for the new journey.

For platform-change context, see the PrestaShop migration guide. For other methods, the Shopify USDC guide covers a different need and its requirements.

We can review payments, orders and integrations in a Shopify audit or help plan a change through our migration service.
